Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy Massage for when you need some time out to relax and enjoy an increased sense of wellbeing. Aromatherapy Massage is the application of essential oils, mixed in a vegetable carrier oil, to the body using safe and comfortable massage techniques to effectively relieve stress and discomfort without being overly intense. The techniques are those similar to Swedish Massage.  Essential oils are chosen by a trained aromatherapist to create a blend for your specific needs. This is a time for you to come apart from the demands of your daily life to be nurtured and cared for.    * Please note that this massage is a sequenced massage that can also be done without adding essential oils to the carrier oil if you prefer. 

For many of us, our sense of smell has not been used in a conscious manner, even though we are bombarded constantly with scents.  Consider the smell of a simmering meal; a fresh ocean breeze; or the scent of a forest.  How do these make you feel?  When we enjoy a scent our bodies relax and our emotions become lighter.  

Aromatherapy uses the highly concentrated essences of a wide variety of flowers, plants and trees. These liquid essences (or, essential oils) contain the aromatic properties of the various plant matter.  Although essential oils affect us most obviously through our sense of smell, the chemical make up of these complex aromatic essences can be experienced through all of our senses and can be enjoyed on all these levels

The old saying, “stop and smell the roses” really is a two-fold process.  Stopping in itself is essential to our mental peace and physical rejuvenation.  And, smelling the roses is truly therapeutic. Aromatherapy Massage is a truly nurturing experience. 

Treatments last for one hour following a set sequence that flows rhythmically with some focus on areas that are especially tense.
